While combing through the internet to find color inspiration for our 2011 collection, we stumbled upon an amazing resource for fun, handmade family activities. Made by Joel is a personal blog written by Joel Henriques, an innovative artist based in Portland, Oregon. Joel’s insight into the kid mind is amazing! In his blog is a plethora of art projects, book suggestions and challenging activities for you and your family to dive into.

His simplistic aesthetic and modern flair is quite beautiful. We couldn’t decide which projects to include in our post, so we selected a few of our favorite images. We can’t wait to see what’s next!

Get Out & Ride!

Get Out & Ride!

Cycling brings out the kid in all of us. It’s fun for the family and an excellent source of exercise. Take a look around, everyone is riding! Velo Cult, our favorite new bike shop in San Diego, has a great selection of refurbished vintage bikes. You can also have a look at their bikes online by visiting velocult.com.

To help encourage cycling within our company, we donate $1 to each employee’s preferable charity or non-profit organization for every mile ridden during their commute to work.

Check out this setup Velo Cult created for a local family who wanted to ditch the minivan for a more active option.

Project Bumbleride & Rady Children’s Hospital

Project Bumbleride

Bumbleride is proud to announce our new community outreach program, Project Bumbleride.

Through this program, Bumbleride strives to give back to hospitals, museums, schools and other family-centered organizations throughout the U.S.

To kick things off, we are proud to join San Diego-based Rady Children’s Hospital in its annual SeaWorld Shamu & You Walk. Our goal is to give back to the foundation that has done so much for the little ones in our community.

On Saturday, October 2nd, Bumbleride will be joining hundreds of San Diegans who want to go the extra mile to help kids – from the tiny babies in the Rady Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, to the kids receiving lifesaving treatment in the Emergency Department and those who are battling cancer and other serious illnesses.

With your entry fee, you’ll join our team on a walk through SeaWorld and Mission Bay in an effort to help ensure that Rady Children’s Hospital can continue to offer the best possible care and services to children throughout San Diego. In 2009 alone the hospital helped more than 143,000 children in our community. Together we can raise enough money to offer more life-saving medial services to children in need in 2010.

As a Bumbleride team participant, you can choose the one-mile stroll or the four-mile scenic route. Both are easy and lots of fun!

If you’re unable to make the walk, you can still sign up as a virtual walker! Click on the link below to visit the Bumbleride Rady Children’s Web site. Here you’ll find information that will help you get involved, as well as a list of specific ways that your generous donation can be used..

As a little extra encouragement, Bumbleride will be randomly selecting two registered participants from our Rady Children’s page as winners of a new Bumbleride Indie. We will also be attending the walk where we will raffle off an additional Bumbleride Indie!

Visit http://bit.ly/cv0Hmd to become a registered Bumbleride team member or donate to help support Rady Children’s Hospital. With your help, we are making real strides to help the patients and families at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego.
