Bumbleride Breast Cancer Awareness Month Giveaway

” The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) is a collaboration of national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working together to promote breast cancer awareness, share information on the disease, and provide greater access to services.

Since its inception more than 25 years ago, NBCAM has been at the forefront of promoting awareness of breast cancer issues and has evolved along with the national dialogue on breast cancer. NBCAM recognizes that, although many great strides have been made in breast cancer awareness and treatment, there remains much to be accomplished. Today, we remain dedicated to educating and empowering women to take charge of their own breast health.” - http://www.nbcam.org/

Oct. 30 — Pink Sunday — local churches will educate their congregations on breast health and breast cancer. Breast health information packets will be provided to participating churches. Churches may celebrate Pink Sunday in many ways, including celebrating survivors in their congregation as well as honoring those who have lost their battle. Participants wear pink to commemorate the day. Last year, over 400 churches participated and over 60,000 breast health information packets were distributed. Church officials should contact Susan G. Komen to participate.

Frontline Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) was incorporated in 2003 to financially assist breast cancer patients and support the Collingwood, Barrie and Owen Sound breast cancer treatment facilities. A registered charitable organization, the FBCF provides short term financial support for breast cancer patients with expenses relating to personal care, living expenses, child care, transportation costs and therapies. Focusing on the Georgian Triangle area, the FBCF aims to direct its funds without undue red tape and delay to those with a demonstrated financial need who are undergoing breast cancer treatment and require short-term financial assistance. FBCF serves Georgian Triangle area residents. The applicant must reside in the Georgian Triangle area or be diagnosed and receiving active treatment from doctors at Barrie Royal Victoria Hospital, Collingwood General & Marine Hospital or Owen Sound Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre. The FBCF is set up to catch breast cancer patients who fall through the cracks of traditional aid organizations. Working with health care professionals and social workers, the FBCF helps to identify and directly fund patients who require temporary financial assistance. The FBCF has made breast cancer awareness a topic of conversation among men and women, among health-care and social service professionals and most importantly, has empowered women to take charge of their own health.
